COLLAPSE OF RANA PLAZA
28 April 2013 On 24 April 2013, an eight-story commercial building, containing five garment factories, a bank, and several shops, collapsed during morning rush hour in Savar, Bangladesh. More than 1,100 people died and more than 2,500 were injured. Warnings were issued the day before when cracks were discovered, but the garment authorities disregarded the warning and required the workers to report the next morning.
