El Nido, Philippines I visited El Nido in January when I started my 2-month trip to Southeast Asia. The city and its surroundings in Bacuit Bay were the number 3 destination in Palawan, after a few days spent in Puerto Princesa and San Vicente. I spent 5 full days here but still felt that they were not enough and that I didn’t do what I wanted and could do. After all, who would be bored of the 45 islands, each with different characteristics, in El Nido? I certainly do not.

Coron, Palawan - heaven earth We went in two organized hopping island tours, climbed 700 steps to see the sunset on Mount Tapyas, and we crossed the island on two wheels, an adventure that marked me for life, right above my right foot ankle. But besides the memories left on my body, I took a lot of photos of the gorgeous places I’ve explored.

Staying at Peace of Love Resort, Philippine San Vicente wasn’t at all on our list, but after seeing some pictures of the accommodation unit, I started looking for more details about the area, and then I found out about Long Beach, the longest white sand beach in the Philippines, located very close to this hotel. At the same time, the fact that San Vicente was two and a half hours far from Puerto Princesa, which meant exactly half of the total distance to El Nido, was another reason for me…

Sunset Beach, California Sunset Beach was an American soap opera of the ’97 (I was 7 years old) when it first appeared on the screens. If you remember, it was broadcasted every day, from Monday to Friday around 7 o’clock in the evening (at least in my home country, Romania). All the action of the show was based on the romance between Meg Cummings (played by actress Susan Ward) and Ben Evans (played by actor Clive Robertson), two young people who met on the internet and who went through a…

2 days in Manila, Philippines The first stop of our 2 months trip in Southeast Asia, was the capital of the Philippines, Manila, a city heavily populated, with a very complex and troubled history. Although we considered it more like a breathing space or just a stopover, after our very long and exhausting flights, we managed to recharge our batteries and explore the city as much as possible in the two days that we had. In two days, we had time to explore a very small part of the Filipino…

Island hoppine in Honda Bay, Philippines The next tour, with departure from Puerto Princesa, was in Honda Bay, a group of islands of various sizes, located on the eastern side of the Palawan archipelago. Because we love the previous experience at The Underground River (do follow this link and read the article: D), we chose to go with the same agency this time, as well, which offered us the tour for the price of 1100 PHP / person (≈ $ 22). The major difference was the distance from the…

In El Nido, you will be faced with a difficult choice, if, as mentioned earlier, you don’t have the time and budget needed to go on more tours. A, B, C, D or different combinations between the four will be your options, and you will have to decide. If you don’t trust the recommendations found on the internet, you should think about what you want most to visit. If you prefer beaches, then D is for you, if you want to discover caves, go with confidence in tour B. If you want a combination of…

Visiting The Underground River in Philippines Miracles do exist. One of them is located on the beautiful island of Palawan, the one I explored for 3 weeks. I briefly told you about it, here. In this article, I intend to look into the reasons for which I wished to add Puerto Princesa, the capital of Palawan, on my travel itinerary. “Guilty” is The Underground River, now on the list of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, officially declared in 2012, and, at the same time, part of the UNESCO…
