Outside the drawing room, a parterre has been planted where there was once plain lawn. However, instead of enclosing roses and perennials, the rectangles of box surround more box. It looks like a David Hicks carpet but instead of wool, it’s made of shrub.
While I like to plant native species in my gardens I can't help but want to try and add a few of these Japanese Maple to my forest where I have removed the undergrowth and overcrowded small trees. It would really be a standout!
