Tom Robertson‘s Cable House Is As Good As City Living Gets
The Cable House by Tom Robertson Architects is a testament to finding elegant solutions to the challenges posed by a dense urban environment, a narrow south-facing site and heritage context. The priority from the very beginning, in order to combat the dark look and feel was to maximise light, air and space. However, this objective was made all the more difficult due to the narrow site – which meant two competing design ideas will be in direct contradiction to each other.

Contrast House: A Redesign of Narrow 125-Year-Old Residence with Spatial and Perceptual Means
A lot of passive sustainable systems are used to minimize the environmental impact of the house. The layout is also reconfigured with the open riser stair and new operable windows that can maximize the natural daylighting and ventilation. With the integrated roof deck, a green roof can absorb the rainwater on a rainy day and also create a cooling effect on the upper floors. #architecture
