One Pound Jimmy stamp. Gwoya Jungarai, born in 1895, apparently gained his nickname from his catchphrase. Whenever a white man asked how much he wanted for one of his boomerangs, he would reputedly reply, "One pound, boss". In 1950 this photograph by Roy Dunstan was used to make philatelic history. Australia Post issued two stamps - 8 pence and half a crown - called "Aborigine". For the first time an actual portrait of an indigenous person had been used on an Australian stamp.
