Eric Freitas Discusses His Avant-Garde Custom Clock Creations - read & see much more on aBlogtoWatch.com "On August 4, 2014, I received an email from a client named Mark Jungers, who was interested in commissioning me to create a large clockwork installation. I had been making mechanical clocks for about a decade, but nothing of the size and complexity that he was requesting. Jungers is a wine aficionado, and this mechanical sculpture was to be the centerpiece for a wine cellar..."

This design I call the Nautilus. This beautiful clock beats about 90 times a minute, and "tinkles" the hour by lifting, and then dropping the curved, horizontal arm, thus causing the chimes to sound. I wanted to create a striking clock that didn't intrude upon ones conciousness, where the hourly strike is more of a happy afterthought.

RH's 18th C. Brass Armillary:Often credited to Eratosthenes, a mathematician and geographer of ancient Greece, the armillary sphere served as a model of the known universe before the advent of the telescope. Among the first complex models ever conceived, they appeared often in portraits during the Renaissance, to denote scientific wisdom, earthly power or heavenly contemplation. Ours, crafted of brass, is a reproduction of a French antique.
