No doubt, many of you will be spending some time this weekend dyeing eggs for #Easter. This tradition dates back at least to the #MiddleAges (with likely roots in pre-Christian tradition). Eating eggs was forbidden during #Lent so any eggs that were laid by hens during this time would be hard boiled in order to preserve them. It became popular to dye the surplus eggs shades of red to symbolize the blood of Christ or green to symbolize the arrival of Spring.
