Moeciu is a commune in Brasov county in Romania and it is one of the preferred places to go for a weekend getaway. Nice scenery, really cosy traditional cottages, breahttaking views and of course... delicious Romanian food. You have everything you need in this place and you're so close to the Bran Castle! Carpathian Mountains - Did you know that more 50% of the Carpathian chain of mountain is located in Romania? :) The views are breathtaking and even though the highest peak in Romania (Moldoveanu Peak - 2544m) is just a bit over half of the altitude of the highest peak in The Alps (Mont Blanc - 4810m), the Romanian Carpathian Mountains are simply stunning! The landscapes, the views, the fauna and flora, everything is overwhelming once you get on top of a Romanian mountain! Photo: Adrian…
The colors of the Romanian mountains simply amaze us! Each fall we try to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the big cities and try to relax in some of these peaceful places. Bran is one of them and Inn on Balaban is for sure the best place to find some relaxation in a completely Romanian atmosphere. Totally recommend it when visiting Romania, it is probably one of the most beautiful places for accommodation!
Traditional house in Moeciu village, in Brasov county. From time out of memory, Romanian people have a special connection with the land they own. So you will always see small houses and big parcels of land worked by farmers, to produce their own traditional products. As higher you'll go in the mountains, the fewer houses you'll see. But those are the really traditional ones, so it's worth seeing them :)
One of the most beautiful Neo-Romanian castle in our country! The Cantacuzino Castle, in Busteni, is such a nice place to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon, enjoying a tasty brunch at their restaurant, watching the close by mountains. The castle can be visited inside as well. The gardens are extremely beautiful, with cobbled alleys, fountains and (thre already famous) swing chair :)
Anne, the only volcanic lake in Romania, is situated close to Tusnad city, in Harghita county. If visiting during fall, you will be amazed by the beauty of the colors that reflect in the crystal clear waters. Such a beautiful and peaceful place!
Unfortunately, Romania has a really bad reputation in terms of infrastructure. We've heard many foreigners saying that they don't want to visit Romania because we have terrible roads. The truth is... We do have terrible roads. Buuuuuut if we consider Top Gear's opinion, Romania has the best driving road in the world!! Transfagarasanul that is :) Anyway, no matter how bad our roads are (actually not bad, but just not enough to support the high traffic), the views are stunning! This picture…
Romanian mountains seen from the Heroes Cross in Caraiman Peak. Although the monument is behind us (we'll show you another picture soon), it is a remarkable memorial built at an altitude of almost 2300m. If you visit Busteni city, it's worth climbing the Bucegi Mountains until you get there, the views are spectacular!
Rasnov Citadel is one of the most renowned citadels in Romania, you'll find it just a few kilometers away from Brasov city. It has been recently renovated and the views from the inside of the citadel are amazing, totally worth the steep climbing :) Also the city of Rasnov can be a good idea for a chill walk in the center, where you'll find those cute and old buildings and the cobbled small streets :)
Sighisoara is one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Romania (built in the 12th century). It is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and guess what, it's the place where Vlad Tepes was born (the so called Dracula). But we all know that Dracula was just a fictional character in a novel inspired by Vlad Tepes, right? :) Anyway, do visit Sighisoara, it is our favourite town in Transylvania!
Viscri village is one of the most renowned villages in Transylvania (even though it only has 500 inhabitants) and its fortified church is amazingly beautiful! It is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is one of the most picturesque fortified churches we've ever seen! Ah, and by the way, did you know that Prince Charles has bought a house in Viscri village? :) Photo credit: Adrian Radulescu
