Blaj - Romanian architect Vlad Rusu has resurrected a "cultural palace" that was originally built in the 1930s but has sat in ruin for 20 years after being ravaged by fire. Rusu won a competition to overhaul the ageing structure in Blaj, a small city in central Romania. The aim was to create a multipurpose space suitable for a wide variety of events, from theatre performances to exhibitions and conferences. See more images on roomonfire.net. Close to Buzau city you will find the Mud Volcanoes from Berca, a geological reservation with spectacular lunar scenery. Small volcano shaped cones, mudflows and no vegetation, this is what you'll see here. The volcanoes erupt quite often throwing mud and gas emissions. Unfortunately, Romania has a really bad reputation in terms of infrastructure. We've heard many foreigners saying that they don't want to visit Romania because we have terrible roads. The truth is... We do have terrible roads. Buuuuuut if we consider Top Gear's opinion, Romania has the best driving road in the world!! One of the most beautiful Neo-Romanian castle in our country! The Cantacuzino Castle, in Busteni, is such a nice place to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon, enjoying a tasty brunch at their restaurant, watching the close by mountains. The castle can be visited inside as well. The colors of the Romanian mountains simply amaze us! Each fall we try to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the big cities and try to relax in some of these peaceful places. Bran is one of them and Inn on Balaban is for sure the best place to find some relaxation in a completely Romanian atmosphere. This is such a luxurious and extremely imposing building and it remind us of the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. It was built by King Carol I and it has more than 170 rooms, can you imagine that? :) It can be visited inside and it's totally worth seeing it! Also the gardens and the terrace are spectacular! Rasnov Citadel is one of the most renowned citadels in Romania, you'll find it just a few kilometers away from Brasov city. It has been recently renovated and the views from the inside of the citadel are amazing, totally worth the steep climbing :) Also the city of Rasnov can be a good idea for a chill walk in the center, where you'll find those cute and old buildings and the cobbled small streets :) Brasov, Citadel, Steep, Chill
