The Chinese flag is a red rectangle with 5 yellow stars. The biggest star represents the communism and the other four star represent the social classes of the people: the working class, the peasantry, the bourgeoisie and the capitalists. All the stars are yellow because they represent the Chinese people - the "yellow race"
Everyone knows about "IL TRICOLORE", the famous Italian flag, with its three vertical bands (equally sized). Even though the colors of it don't have a particular meaning (or not an easy one), we like to think that they represent the Italian gorgeous food :) The green is the basil, the red is the tomato and the white is the incredible tasty mozzarella cheese :) So whenever we look at the Italian flag we imagine a savory Margherita pizza :D
Three horizontal bands (equally sized) of black, red and gold symbolize a ack eagle with red beak and red claws, on a yellow background. Black also represents determination, red the hardiness, bravery and strength, yellow is a symbol of generosity.
Three equally-sized vertical bands in blue, yellow and red. Red symbolizes the bravery and strength of the Romanian people. Yellow symbolizes generosity. Blue symbolizes truth and loyalty. Also, these colors represent Moldova and Walachia, the two principalties that united in 1859 and formed Romania. There used to be a coat of arms also, but it has been removed in 1989.
A red rectangle with a gold star in the centre, that's Vietnam's flag. Red symbolizes the revolution and the blood. The star symbolizes the 5 classes in Vietnamese society: intellectuals, farmers, workers, businessmen and military personnel. Pretty much the same symbolism that we find in China's flag.
There are many resemblances between the HK and China flags and the most common feature is the red color, present on both flags -symbolizes the celebration, a festive color for Chinese people. In the end, we all know the "one country two systems" principle :) Unlike the Chinese flag that has the 5 yellow stars, the HK flag has a white 5 petals orchid in the center. Each petal has a star in the center (the ones from the Chinese flag), to emphasize the connection between the 2 of them.
Well of course, Canada's flag has a maple leaf in the center :) Which is actually expected, as the maple leaf is the Canadian emblem since the 18th century! It is also the country's symbol and has been used on Quebec and Ontario's coat of arms. Maple leaf and maple syrup is actually everywhere in Canada :)
Did you know the significance of the colors the Iceland flag has? The red part is to symbolize the active volcanoes that are scattered all around Iceland. The blue is the surrounding Atlantic Ocean. And the white lines are the snow and the ice covering most of the country :)
