1850s bonnets in detail

As Easter is traditionally a time for bonnets I though I'd dedicate this post to bonnets of one of my favourite eras - the 1850s. 1850s Family

1/6 plate daguerreotype of a mother with her six daughters. The scene seems to be illuminated by natural light coming from a window just visible at left - the white area at right is possibly a 'reflector' placed so as to diffuse the light coming from opposite more evenly across the subjects.
