#PatriarchDaniel explains Christmas symbols: “The gifts of the Magi show that the entire universe is a gift of God, and that we have to respond to God’s gift by offering gifts in our turn. Gold meant the royal quality of the Infant, being the Eternal King. Incense showed Him as High or Eternal Priest, serving God in Heaven and on Earth. Smyrna indicated that when Infant Jesus would grow up and become an adult, He would pass through death, but would conquer death through His Resurrection”.
”He who sees His has by sight everything that is comprised in the list of bounties: endless life, eternal incorruption, deathless blessedness, immortal Kingdom, endless joy, true light, spiritual and sweet word, unapproachable glory, unceasing happiness, every good is rendered through hope in the promise of this beatitude”. (Saint Gregory of Nyssa) #FastingWithJoy
”Let us not be sorrowful when persecuted; let us rather rejoice that by being chased away from the precious things of this earth, we run for the heavenly good, according to the One Who promised the beatitude to those who are persecuted for Him. For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ”. St Gregory of Nyssa #FastingWithJoy
