This easy but elegant pattern is great for any beginner looking for a small challenge, or an experienced knitter needing a mindless project. Instructions for the stitch pattern are written. Measurements are given in US and metric. MATERIALS Yarn: 475 yards / 435 meters of fingering weight Shown in Tenderfoot 80/20 in Depths colorway. Needles: US 5 / 3.75 mm needles Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle, tape measure GAUGE Gauge is not critical and will vary depending on yarn used, but here is a guideline: 26 stitches and 30 rows to 4” / 10 cm in chevron pattern FINISHED MEASUREMENTS (after blocking) 7.5 x 70” / 19 x 178 cm NOTES Two separate but identical pieces are made and grafted together to ensure both ends are scalloped. The Kitchener stitch is recommended for grafting the two pieces together, but should you prefer, the three-needle bind-off is a great alternative. Simple Chevron pattern is a multiple of 10 + 9. Customize your scarf by adjusting the number of stitches cast on using the multiple for a wider or narrower scarf / shawl. The scarf pictured is knit in fingering weight yarn, though the stitch pattern lends itself wonderfully to many different weights. When choosing a different yarn weight, be sure to adjust your needle size accordingly.
