Al acabar la escuela quería ser escritora, pero su padre se negó, así que se trasladó a Barcelona para ampliar sus estudios de Música. En la ciudad condal también asistía a clases en el Institut de Cultura Popular i Bilbioteca de la Dona. Empezó a trabajar tocando música en un terceto de señoritas en los locales nocturnos barceloneses.
