Happy Mărţişor everybody! This is probably the oldest tradition of Romania. People give each other a Mărţişor (some sort of a talisman).

The first of March is a celebrated day in Bulgaria, symbolising the arrival of Spring. Bulgarians exchange coloured threads (Martenitsa) to be worn until a blossoming tree or stork is seen. The Martenitsa are then hung from the branches.
