SASKATOON BERRY Native to Saskatchewan, parts of British Columbia and Northern Canada, Saskatoon berries are actually closer to the apple family than blueberries! Their sweet and unique nutty flavour as well as their high fiber, protein and antioxidant properties make them ideal superfoods! Saskatoon berries are also called prairie berries, serviceberries, shadbush and pigeon berry (in ye olde times). Fun fact: the name originated from the First Nation’s Cree word misâskwatômina, for “fruit."
