Organics | Dried and Pressed Flowers in Jewelry
One of the things so addictive for me, about working with organics, is the hunt of the treasure. Finding a patch of mushrooms or fiddleheads in nature is equal to hitting the mother-load at a garage sale. The same sort of adrenaline courses through my body. Those who have come across a patch of tiny little mushrooms know exactly what I’m speaking about, don’t you? Here are examples of preparing mushrooms and fiddleheads using silica gel.
I’m grateful to be able to reach Gabrielle and be able to connect with her about her life. Gabrielle and her family live in Kentucky, the bluegrass state. She is a wife, mother of three children, an artist, music enthusiast and gardener. Her days are spent tending her garden, teaching her children, reading and spending any extra time creating.
This tutorial was inspired by the look of dendritic quartz and dendritic agates. What is so fun about this technique can also cause some resin creators a little anxiousness. There are no two pieces that will look just alike! If you are looking to exploring resin, then this technique is just up your alley.

Makers are able to make one-of-a-kind unique pieces using Nunn Design 2-Part Resin colorized with Castin’ Craft Opaque Pigments. Jacquard Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments are swirled into the resin and preserved pressed organics are inserted. Not only does this allow for one-of-a-kind pieces, but the combinations of colorizing the resin, swirling Jacquard Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments and inserting the pressed organics leads for an endless combination of creativity.
What I love about this technique of Colorized Crystal Clay with Organics and Colorized Resin is that it only requires one pour of resin. For those of you doing resin production work, the speed of not needing to wait for your base layer of resin to cure is a benefit. Once you have colorized your Crystal Clay with Castin’ Craft Opaque Pigments, you can embed your organics into the clay and pour the resin onto the clay while it is still uncured!
