Vlad the Impaler -Despite being a brutal wartime leader, perception of Vlad the Impaler is unduly negative for a number of reasons. While contemporaneous leaders killed more people, Vlad's method of execution was unusual and brutal. This led to a macabre fascination with his crimes in Western Europe, which exaggerated his unholy reputation.
