Echinococcus granulosus (hydatid tapeworm). Symptoms can vary by cyst location; in liver, pressure necrosis, jaundice, and portal hypertension; in lungs, coughing, shortness of breath, and chest pain. Also localized pain, eosinophilia, urticaria, and bronchospasm; anaphylactic shock or death may occur if cyst ruptures. Treatments include mebendazole, albendazole, and surgery.
