Mathew B. Juan was the first American Indian killed in World War I. He was assigned to the 28th Infantry, 1st Division. On May 28, 1918, the 28th Infantry conducted their first sustained offensive battle of World War I against the German forces at Cantigny. On that day, Mathew B.
