Erin Schanen 🌿 The Impatient Gardener on Instagram: "I spent a lot of time looking down when I toured gardens in Philadelphia last September because I am a groundcover fanatic. I’d much rather see plants than mulch. It’s not a look that’s right for everyone but if I can avoid having to lug mulch around I’m all in. Hardy plumbago (Ceratostigma plumbaginoides), the first picture, was looking so good. I’ll probably look to add some of that to my garden. Are you a fan of groundcovers? #gardenfling" Mulch, One Pic, Hardy, Philadelphia, Erin, Spending, September, Avoid, Gardens

Kilby Jensen on Instagram: "Are you looking for an attractive ground cover? Have you thought about replacing a section of your lawn? You may want to consider Wooly Thyme, Thymus pseudolanuginosus. This is one of my favorites for using in rock gardens, borders, steep slopes, perennial beds, mixed in with pavers or flagstones, and as a lawn alternative. Woolly thyme is a spreading herb that uses less water than your lawn, competes with weeds, and can handle foot traffic. E R I N 🌿 The Impatient Gardener on Instagram: "A tale of two gingers. I love a good groundcover and two of my favorites are gingers. The first is Asarum europaeum, European ginger. It has smaller, shiny leaves and forms a tight clump. The second is Asarum canadense, Canadian ginger, which is taller (maybe 10”) and has bigger leaves. This is native to the eastern half of the U.S., quite far south. It has dull, slightly fuzzy leaves that deer and rabbits don’t bother (I don’t notice damage on Arborvitae, Conifers, Winter Window Boxes, Cheap Christmas Trees, Dogwood Branches, Magnolia Leaves, Big Leaves, Bellflower, Garden Tours
