Atahualpa (1502-1533) was the ruler of Quito for 5 years before conquering the Inca Empire from his brother Huascar, the 13th Inca Emperor. During the Spanish conquest, the Spaniard Francisco Pizarro captured Atahualpa and used him to control the Inca Empire. Eventually, the Spanish executed Atahualpa, effectively ending the empire.
