I made these 2 bespoke commissioned rings (top left) a while ago, the couple have since had a beautiful baby boy, which if you are lucky, means an eternity ring! It would have been easier to work in wax but I LOVE any excuse to work in platinum....it doesn't oxidize and is super soft when annealed, tough and enduring once worked. I have to make the ring sit with the diamond wedding ring all the way round. so a lot of bending, annealing and hammering. Next step..hallmarking then diamonds.
The first of the new designs finished! A 20mm x 10mm marquise golden citrine set in a silver cocktail pendant. The first one's always a little trickier than I think it's going to be. We are also going to set amethyst, Swiss blue topaz, sky blue topaz, smokey quartz and garnet and basically any other lovely stones we can get our grubby little hands on!
The inside of the pendant is burred away so the stone sits in it nicely, keep it steady in the brown stuff......then I use a tool I made in the forge, many moons ago , along with a hammer to push the silver over the stone till it stops moving and is secure.
