Moldoveanu Peak, Fagaras Mountains – Romania  Moldoveanu is literally the top of Romania (2,544 m), reigning over the Fagaras mountains in the Carpathians. Reaching it via the small town of Victoria (a bus ride away from Brasov) can take about two days. Hiking Moldoveanu is also possible by taking a car ride during the summer all the way to Balea Lake (on the famous Transfagarasan Road).

Moldoveanu Peak (Romanian: Vârful Moldoveanu) pronounced [vɨrful moldoˈve̯anu], Moldovan Peak), at 2,544 metres, is the highest mountain peak in Romania. It is located in Argeș County, in the Făgăraș Mountains of the Southern Carpathians. The most popular routes to reach Moldoveanu are over the Viștea Mare (2,527 m), by paths coming from Podragu, Sâmbăta, or by the Viștea Valley. The closest settlement on the North side is Victoria and on the south side, Câmpulung.
