Still, producer Toshio Suzuki was so impressed with director Hiroyuki Morita’s storyboards, especially the main character Haru, that he encouraged Hayao Miyazaki to give this a cinematic release. So far, this is Studio Ghibli’s only spin-off or sequel feature film.
