Detail view of the three-dimensional Baroque altarpiece which fills the entire apse area. The base with a height of 3 meters and a depth of 6 meters is flanked by red marble pillars and ends up in a segmental curve. The empty sarcophagus of Mary occupies the entire width , all around are stucco figures of Thomas, John and several other apostles who observe the event. The creator of the altarpiece was Cosmas Damian Asam and Egid Quirin Asam. Ca.1723.
