I’ve used washes to create depth, but this was my first attempt at using layers. I’ve had this chest for a long time. It was spray painted in white in the early 90s. I loved the shabby /cottage look, even back then! Ha! However, it has been stored in our attic for many years. A short and simple video demo on how to layer paint and do wet distressing. This piece is a vintage sewing machine which is sanded, primed in two coats of Dixie Belle Boss (white). I painted it in Dixie Belle Savannah Mist. Let it dry completely and then I painted it in second coat of Savannah Mist. When the second coat of paint is wet, I used a wet baby wipe to rub the paint off and show the underlying layer of white. This is single step in which you distress and let the underlying layer sneak
