DIY Above Tank Basking Area For Turtles

An above tank basking area is a platform that sits above the water level in a turtle tank, allowing turtles to climb out of the water and bask in a warm, dry environment. This is important for the health of turtles, as it allows them to regulate their body temperature and absorb UVB light, which is necessary for proper bone growth and overall health.

Inexpensive turtle topper made from a 20 gallon long (30" x 12") tank. The bottom of the tank was removed and I built a frame using 1/2" PVC pipes and fittings. The basking platform is slate tile and the ramp is egg crate light diffuser panel held in place with zip ties. The ramp angle is adjustable.
