Hello, I've been working on some projects to make some of my gear waterproof, I'm making a rain skirt and also working on making a backpack waterproof.

Recently we wrote about IKEA's hilarious response to Balenciaga's $2,145 version of their iconic 99 cents Frakta bag. But Balenciaga isn't the only one who repurposed, reused, and re-created the iconic waterproof material bag, and now there's a new trend of turning them into DIY clothes and accessories.

As part of its Random Acts of Life Improvement plan, IKEA is giving out gazillions (ok, 35,000!) of its ubiquitous blue bags today in cities all across the country. It’s happening just in time for folks to have it handy to tote around summertime goodies for Memorial Day weekend and beyond, such as picnic and beach outing necessities.Or, if you are as creative as Adriana (shown above, via IkeaHackers), you could create a new item for your summer wardrobe!
