Techniques for the 3D Lattice Quilt - The Questioning Quilter

I would like to tell you how to make the fun little lattice diamond I used in this month’s article (Color Considerations for Scrap Quilts). I started with four 1 ½” strips 13 ½ inches long. (if you stagger the strips as I show in the pictures you can use shorter strips). The full pattern

When two of my favorite things come together, life is Wonderful! As those who follow me know, I love, love, love Kaffe Fassett fabrics. (As my goddaughter said the other day while shopping for fabric with me, why would anyone use any other fabrics? I have her brainwashed, too! :D) In addition, I really like MC Escher's art. And to grow the ultimate lumberjack beard, get ready for the long road of whisker growing ahead. Cool stuff just takes time…usually. But if you’re itchin’ to put together a tumbling blocks quilt, I’ve got news for you: It doesn’t have to take forever, and it doesn’t have to be difficult. My 3D Tumblers…

[Edited to include more information on Marci’s book.] I just realized I finished this quilt in the beginning of January but never shared it with you. So I give you First Steps. I based this wall hanging on Marci Baker’s Hollow Cube, Too design (more information here). The design was suggested to me by someone …
