Nez Perce style war bridle. Pretty rare and needing the lightest touch to avoid inflicting pain. The goal is communication between rider and horse not force. Used by Indians 1840s and earlier. A small loop, just large enough to go in the mouth, encircling the lower jaw. Tie a secure knot. Place the loop around the jaw so the rope rests in the natural gap between the horse’s teeth.
