Shakti Mudra – for inducing sleep and relieving menstrual discomfort. To do Shakti mudra, join ring fingers and little fingers as indicated. The index and middle fingers will fold loosely over the thumb. The thumb will be bent inside the palm Sitting on the bed, close eyes and do Shakti Mudra for 10-12 minutes. Slide and lie down.

Surabhi Mudra – for treating rheumatism and wish fulfillment. Surabhi Mudra balances elements in the body. It helps in relieving diseases originating from rheumatism. Arthritis and osteoarthritis patients find relief by practicing Surabhi Mudra. The mudra can be practiced for 15 minutes thrice a day. (Read more on my blog)

Back Mudra – for relieving back pain. Back Mudra works effectively for people with weak back. Back Mudra comes to rescue if you have strained your back after a prolonged activity like cleaning or sitting day long in a wrong posture. Right hand: The thumb, middle finger, and little finger will be in contact, the other fingers will remain extended. Left hand: Place your thumb joint on the nail of your index finger. Do this mudra for 4 to 5 minutes thrice a day.

Mudras are often used along with pranayama breathing exercises to stimulate different parts of the body that are involved with breathing and to affect the flow of prana.
