Portugal-based project FAHR 021.3 is a creative collaboration between artists Filipa Frois Almeida and Hugo Reis. For the installation, rows of shiny boxes were suspended overhead, pinched together by string from the four corners of the malleable material and attached with clothespins. Each box was connected to the next, producing a chainlike reaction of movement. As visitors chatted and played underneath, the hollow boxes swayed in the wind, reflecting light and twinkling with a lively energy. American artist Phillip K Smith III added mirrors to the walls of a shack in California's High Desert to create the illusion that you can see right through the building. Entitled ‘Lucid Stead’, the installation was created on a 70-year-old wooden residence. Mirrored panels alternate with weather-beaten timber siding panels to create horizontal stripes around the outer walls, allowing narrow sections of the building to seemingly disappear into the vast desert landscape.
