Saint Ambrose wrote about this early Church martyr and virgin, Saint Agnes. Her story comes to us in the form of legend... She chose Jesus as her spouse and would not marry anyone else, because her family was rich many young Roman noblemen wanted to marry her. With Christian persecution still very much being met with death to those who followed Christ, Agnes ultimately lost her head for the Head of the Church, her Bridegroom - Christ. Saint Agnes' symbol is the lamb. [feast day - Jan 21]
