This Iams print ad has a communication objective of emphasizing that people don't think of their pets as "pets" but more like family who deserve the best food. The headline is "I Am Not a Pet" with the illustration of a cat, and they work together because the dialogue of the body copy and headline reflect what a family's cat would think to themselves, understanding that they deserve the best because they share a relationship with their owner that goes beyond "owner" and "pet."

This copy focuses on one detail of being a pet and uses it to reveal something "you never know." It starts with an unexpected response from a pet. The bold statement is contradictory with the photo of the pet.
