Gliders
The 506th PIR was dropped at Son. The drop zone was well recognized because the house had a adjacent barn that had the word Paulushoef written of the roof, that is how they knew their DZ. The family takes great pride on showing their thanks to the Screaming Eagles. In front of the house they have a memorial for the paratroopers in a shape of a chute. 4,500 Paratroopers were dropped in this area, 53 gliders landed also with more troops and equipment.
