Newport Arch, Lincoln. One of the few remaining Roman arched gates in the UK, that were originally connected to the city walls. You can see here that the ground surface is much higher than in Roman days. People would have walked under the small arch (which you can still do) but you wouldn't have been able to touch the ceiling.
