KUALA LUMPUR: The highly infectious Covid-19 mutation, known as D614G, has been detected in the country.

Real-life implications of the global shift of D614 to G614 variant.

What the D614G Mutation Means for Covid-19 Spread, Fatality, Treatment, and Vaccine

What real-life implications does this mutation (from G614 to D614 variant) bring? And what it means for the Covid-19 pandemic?

With continued expansion of the COVID-19 pandemic, antiviral drugs are desperately needed to treat patients at high risk of life-threatening disease and even to limit spread if administered early during infection. Typically, the fastest route to identifying and licensing a safe and effective antiviral drug is to test those already shown safe in early clinical trials for other infections or diseases. Here, we tested in vitro oleandrin, derived from the Nerium oleander plant and shown…

Carbon dioxide (CO2) rebreathing has been recognised as a concern regarding respirator use and is related to symptoms of discomfort, fatigue, dizziness, headache, muscular weakness and drowsiness.

Carbon dioxide rebreathing in respiratory protective devices: influence of speech and work rate in full-face masks - PubMed

Carbon dioxide (CO2) rebreathing in respiratory protective devices (RPDs) has been highlighted as a key concern regarding respirator use. However, the problem is relatively under researched. This paper presents novel findings on the impact of phonic respiration (breathing during speech) and CO2 conc …

Color and Light Therapy

Rats were exposed to room light and fitted with contact lenses, one shown here, that allowed the green spectrum wavelength to pass through the lenses.

Treatment of Pain Gets the Green Light

There is promising news for those suffering from chronic pain. UA researchers discovered that when rats with neuropathic pain were bathed in green LED, the rats showed more tolerance for thermal and tactile stimulus. A clinical trial with fibromyalgia sufferers is underway. With UANews video.

What I advise people is to pick a dark room in your house because I want to prevent light pollution. We give them the light strength, we adjust the intensity and the wavelength, and we tell them to keep the light between 3 to 6 feet away. The light is bright enough that you can read, listen to music, meditate, exercise — as long as you don’t fall asleep because it has to go through the eyes.I specifically ask them not to stare at it. The protocol is one to two hours every night for 10 weeks.
