Uneasy lies the Head that Wears a Crown
Couldn't resist this, Crown Princess Antonia of Bavaria, nee Luxembourg, wearing the Bavarian version of the Lover's Knot tiara in 1920s. This piece dates from much earlier than the Belle epoque, (but was too good to leave out and I will construct a board purely of that type of tiara at some point) This version has the full upright pearl spikes, similar to those of Queen Mary when she had her tiara made in homage to that of her aunt Augusta of Cambridge.
