Rendezvous is a triangle-shaped shawl worked from the bottom up. This time I knit this shawl using light fingering weight yarn that my husband dyed for me.
A ribbon of zigzag lace with a yarnover selvedge forms the foundation for this pretty triangular shawl. Stitches picked up from the yarnovers take a few steadying ridges of garter stitch while decreases are established at the edges and spine, then begin to intermingle in a traditional two-sided lace pattern before relaxing into an ever-diminishing field of garter. Demalangeni Shawl pattern by Wendy Neal
Demalangeni is a triangular-crescent shaped shawl. It is worked from the bottom edge up. The lace border is worked along the full width of the shawl, and then short rows are used to fill in the body with a simple textured stitch that resembles mock cables.
This pattern has been revised May 29, 2012 to include written instructions to the charts. I have also updated the pattern with new and improved charts and updated the instructions for clarity. I hope you enjoy this new version of the Calais Shawl Pattern :)
Orchid Thief pattern by Ysolda Teague
Three petals bloom from the centre top edge, their points organically growing into the three spines of yarn over increases. This unusual increase pattern creates the perfect shape for staying in place around your shoulders. The petals along the edge are grouped into threes, echoing the centre and forming deep scallops.
A simple bud lace pattern makes up the body of this little shawl. The pattern flows into a deep lily-of-the-valley border with a peaked edging. From the few stitches that form the center of the base of the triangle, the shawl is shaped by columns of yarnovers along the center spine and edges. The shawl is worked in a light-as-a-feather laceweight alpaca that shows every detail of the intricate patterning.
