The pineal gland, also known as the "Third Eye", is a small pinecone shaped endocrine gland in the vertebrate brain. It produces the serotonin derivative melatonin which is a hormone that affects the modulation of wake/sleep patterns as well as seasonal functions and also regulates the output of DMT that the body releases in the brain during REM sleep which causes dreams. The pineal gland is directly responsible for most instinctual behaviors as well as clairvoyance, precognition and intuition.
