Art Deco Architecture
The New Museum is New York City's only museum devoted exclusively to contemporary art from around the world. Established in 1977, the museum opened the doors of its new home at 235 Bowery, an almost unreal architectural intervention that playfully adopts the haphazard, disjointed character of SoHo and the Lower East Side.
The Chrysler Building built between 1928 and 1930 New York stands 1,048 feet high with 77 floors. Chrysler automobile radiator caps were an inspiration to the sculptures that decorate the lower setbacks and they also feature car wheel ornaments. It was designed by William Van Alen and is a stylish example of Art Deco architecture
