Gerhard Boldt (24 January 1918 – 10 May 1981) was an officer in the German Army (Wehrmacht Heer) who wrote about his experiences during World War II. He wrote "Hitler's Last Days: An Eye-Witness Account". His book was used for the film "Hitler: The Last Ten Days". The StG 44 was far superior to anything the Allies had to deploy, but endemic industrial shortages prevented its full implementation throughout the German army.
