Aortic Insufficiency: This is the primary manifestation of Aortic Valve Disease, a type of heart valvular disease characterized by the inability of the aortic valve to close properly. This causes aortic regurgitation, or backflow of blood into the left ventricle. Over time, the increased workload cause the left ventricle to enlarge, AKA: left ventricular hypertrophy. The treatment for this condition involves surgical repair or replacement of the valve #Cardiovascular #MedSurg #Nursing
Right Ventricular Hypertrophy (RVH)-- is a form of ventricular hypertrophy affecting the right ventricle. Blood travels through the right ventricle to the lungs via the pulmonary arteries. If conditions occur which decrease pulmonary circulation, meaning blood does not flow well from the heart to the lungs, extra stress can be placed on the right ventricle. This can lead to right ventricular hypertrophy.
