Guglielmo Faija (1803-73) - Prince Albert Victor of Wales (1864-1892)

Paired with a miniature of Prince George of Wales, later King George V, this miniature of Prince Albert Victor of Wales, later Duke of Clarence, is a copy by Guglielmo Faija after a miniature by Reginald Easton (1807-92) painted in 1868. Eastons miniature is no longer in the Royal Collection, although others from the same set (13965, 13968) remain in the collection.

Guglielmo Faija (1803-73) - Princess Helena (1846-1923)

This is possibly the miniature of Helena after a Daguerrotype for which Queen Victoria paid Guglielmo Faija 6gs in April 1852 (RA VIC/ADDT/232/17). This and other references suggest a photographic source for Faijas miniature but the original daguerreotype on which it is based has not so far been identified. William Charles Bell, an enamel miniature painter, is known to have made an copy after a Miniature by Faja after a Daguerrotype. Bells copy, based on this miniature, may conceivably be…
