The Mount Vernon Trail is a 17-mile paved hiker/biker path in Northern Virginia that travels between Rosslyn and George Washington's home at Mount Vernon. It is part of the Potomac Heritage Trail, which is one of only 11 National Scenic Trails designated by Congress.

Here is today's fun fact for the countdown: At Great Falls near Washington, DC, the Potomac river cascades over a series of 20-foot falls, falling a total of 76 feet in elevation over a distance of less than 1 mile, making the Great Falls the steepest fall line rapids of any river in the eastern United States.
