Queen Helen of Romania wearing the "Greek key" tiara. During World War II she devoted herself to the care of the wounded. For her efforts to rescue Romanian Jews from the Nazi Germans, she was awarded the status of Righteous Among the Nations. Crown Prince Michael of Romania is pictured with her.

King Michael of Romania today. At nearly 92 Michael is the only head of state from WWII still living and, if I'm not mistaken, the only monarch deposed by the communists who lived to see their downfall. Sweet! (Some consider Simeon II of Bulgaria to be another living WWII head of state but as he was a child king during that era and didn't actually govern, I'm not counting him.)

King Michael of Romania, only child of King Carol II and Princess Helen. Michael would be the last Romanian monarch.
