The Royal Saint Nicholas Church was founded by Stefan cel Mare (Stephen the Great) between 1491-1492 and it stands for the oldest religious dwelling in Iasi that is still in use these days. It is situated in Iasi, nearby the former Curtea Domneasca - Royal Court where now is The Palace of Culture, and this is the reason why it is here that were anointed most of the rulers of Moldova, from Despot Voda to Alexandru Ioan Cuza.
