Gulf Mirage GR8 (1975) To a young kid and future AUTOSPORT staffer, Derek Bell's demo of the Mirage GR8, with which he'd just won the 1975 Le Mans, at the British GP opened the imagination to something that seemed impossibly glamorous. Beautiful lines, a Cosworth DFV crackle, a race over the sea that went on all day and all night...and that Gulf livery. Magic!
