Prince Mircea of Romania (3 Jan. 1913--2 Nov. 1916), 3rd son and 6th and youngest child of Queen Marie and King Ferdinand. Like his older sister Ileana, Mircea's likely father was Barbu Stirbey, his mother's lover. The tragic little prince died of typhoid fever during WWI when enemy troops were closing in on Bucharest. He was buried very quickly so the Royal Family could escape to unoccupied Moldavia in north-eastern Romania. Mircea was close to his immediate sister, Princess Ileana.
